Amy Wright is a Brit living and working in San Francisco. Her art work is mainly Abstract Expressionism. Each piece is about the qualities of the paint , the colour and the act of painting. Amy has particular fasination with the use of colour; the emotion and versatility of the colours used.
Amy studied Arts Therapy at the University of Derby in the UK where she first began to really explore the use of oil paints. What was of particular fasination was the textures that evolved as the piece took on its form. After a short hiatus starting in 1999, Amy returned to painting in 2003, inspired by living in Greenwich, London. Amy joined a network of artists at the Cor Blimey Art Studios in Deptford in 2005 and further continued her explorations into colour and texture.
In 2006 Amy moved to San Francisco. Here she found great inspiration in the creative energy that throbs throughout the city. Amy has a studio in Russian Hill.
Amy's influences include Hans Hoffman, Mark Rothko, and Philip Guston not to mention her friends, family and San Francisco itself.
